What remains
This new body of work is about gratitude and searching for connection. With history, with life, with the land and nature. It is about what is left after time has consumed and life has reshaped. And the search for what will always be there. What remains.
All paintings are created on scrap pieces of vellum and carefully secured with linen yarn against a cream museum board background. Mirroring how we try to anchor who we are and what we hold meaningful.
These paintings on vellum require a careful technique of laying down small brushstrokes of relatively dry watercolour paint. Layering many layers of pigment in this way allows me to create vibrant and deep colours.
Inspirations for this new body of work are: The Middle Ages, Historic Monasteries, Albrecht Dürer, Book Illumination, Crafts, European Forests & Gardens, Childhood, Nature.
