Botanical
My botanical work on paper and vellum is rooted in close observation and painted directly from life in natural daylight. Working from living subjects requires careful planning and patience, because the work is painted against the background of natural change and the limited time available when painting from life. Botanical accuracy and attention to detail are central to my practice of painting in watercolour, but each composition begins with emotion.
