Ready to build your painting skills &

unlock your creative potential?

Painting is not just a hobby or a profession. It is a way to attain personal growth, to find happiness and fulfilment, and nurture the mind that wants to explore and be creative.

I’ve designed my online class to feel just like my regular in-person classes. You step into my studio coaching circle rather than following a fixed set of tutorials — all from the comfort of your own home.

WEEKLY BOTANICAL

WATERCOLOR CLASSES

Live on Zoom

Sometimes all you need is

a little regularity and consistent practice

Are you looking for an opportunity to learn how to paint realistic botanical watercolors from life, in a personal, regular class? Sign up for my weekly painting class.

“I believe the best way to learn is through personal engagement.

That’s why I only teach live. I’ve created an environment where you can work with me directly, benefit from my experience, ask questions whenever they come up, and receive personalised feedback whenever you’re ready — because I know that with each live session, you often need time to process what you’ve learned, and that the real questions tend to come later.

Why are your groups so small?

I work with a limited group of students each month (12 max) — on purpose. It allows me to give you the focused support and feedback you need to grow confidently in your own artistic practice.

What will I learn?

You will learn all the basic techniques for painting realistic botanical watercolours from life, including: setting up your subject, lighting, composition, creating a line drawing, seeing and creating form, colour mixing, building a painting in transparant layers (washes), the wet-in-wet technique, wet-on-dry technique, dry brushing, glazing, creating texture, how to capture the character of your subject, achieving realism, and all kinds of specific knowledge on botanical watercolor painting and the materials we work with.

We draw, paint and finish one theme each session.

Which themes are covered in the classes:

Seasonal leaves, flowers, fruit & vegetables depending on availability (announced for each session in advance). We paint from life, but reference photo’s are made available if needed.

What equipment will I need?

You are free to participate with any equipment you like.

For a detailed overview of what you will need and what gives the best results see Equipment

My goal is to give you insight into how I work as a botanical artist and provide you with the tools to help you develop your own creative practice. I teach botanical watercolour painting almost all year round.

As a member of the Society of Botanical Artists and the Verein Botanische Kunst Deutschland, I value the opportunity to represent and pass on this beautiful tradition, and I aim to offer thoughtful, well-rounded guidance in this area through my classes.

But don’t take my word for it — read below what my students have to say.

Looking for more freedom or compact learning opportunities?

I regularly teach seasonal workshops online or at the Volkshochschule in Heidelberg, and these might be just what you are looking for. Inspiring in-depth painting sessions of one or two days (3 to 6 hours). I also offer private teaching to a limited number of students.
