Still life in oil

I paint still lifes in oil on panel, capturing the character of modest subjects and textures of daily life. I like to elevate objects from the home, ranging from bars of soap to metal lids, fruit, and candy. Working small, but life-size, I aim to create a sense of intimacy and uniqueness. The rendering of different materials and a high degree of realism are central to my work, which is inspired by the Dutch Old Masters. I paint “alla prima” from life, on panel.
